Sanaa-Gebäude

The faculty for communication designers, photographers and industrial designers has belonged to the Folkwang University again since 2007 - after 35 years at the University of Duisburg-Essen. The idea of the unity of the arts has been experienced and taught here for over 80 years – in the fields of music, theatre, dance, design and science.

Since it was built in 2006, the Sanaa building has been regarded as an architectural masterpiece with a trail-blazing energy concept which the Tokyo architects, Kazuyo Sejima and Ruye Nishizawa, also view as one of their most significant buildings. Not least of all because this is the ideal location for the new home of the Folkwang designers.
